David B. Kennedy is Senior Executive Vice President, Chief Banking Officer of National Penn Bancshares, Inc. (“National Penn”). A member of National Penn’s Office of the President, Mr. Kennedy also serves as a member of the Asset Liability, Credit Policy, Commercial Credit, Watch Asset and Deposit Pricing Committees. Mr. Kennedy has 30 years of experience in the financial services industry.
Prior to KNBT’s merger with National Penn in February 2008, Mr. Kennedy was President of the Greater Lehigh Valley Region of KNBT. He began his career with Summit Bank (formerly First Valley Bank) in Bethlehem. After a progression of increased responsibilities, he was appointed Senior Vice President and Sector Manager of Middle Market Lending. In that role he directed the customer relationships and business development activities of the middle market lending teams in the Lehigh Valley, Wilkes-Barre and Lancaster. He joined the former Nazareth National Bank as Senior Vice President of Commercial Lending in the fall of 2001.
In his current role as Chief Banking Officer, Mr. Kennedy directs the Bank’s six regional presidents as well as the Corporate Banking, Marketing and Corporate Communications functions. Mr. Kennedy’s responsibilities include all bank delivery systems, with a focus on growing banking revenue and stronger customer relationships.
Mr. Kennedy holds a bachelors degree in Business & Economics from Lafayette College and an MBA from Lehigh University. Mr. Kennedy has always been active in his community and currently serves on the board of Northampton Community College Foundation and serves on its Executive and Recruitment & Board Development Committees. He serves as Board Secretary and is a member of the Executive, Finance and Nominating Committees on the Allentown Art Museum board. Mr. Kennedy also serves as Treasurer of the Board of Governors of the Saucon Valley Country Club and serves as Chair of the Finance & Investment Committee and is a member of the Executive and Traditions & Orientation Committees.
